IN SEARCH OF THE LOVING GOD by Mark Mason This recently published book is about a new way of interpreting the Bible. The author shows that during medieval and Reformation times the Christian churches forced distorted interpretations onto the Bible, and often translated it in deceitful ways, in order to try and justify their tyranical control of society. This book shows that when a few wrong translations are corrected, and it is interpreted with wisdom, the Bible is a wonderful and inspiring collection of writings, containing some of the greatest truths to have dawned upon humanity. To insist on taking it literally, though, is to bring it into disrepute. Quite a few chapters of this book contain Biblical interpretations which are refreshingly different from conventional Evangelical Christian ones. Chapter 11 is totally devoted to a new way of looking at the Bible. This site has summaries of all the chapters in the book, including a summary and an excerpt from the Bible interpretation chapter. It also includes two complete chapters from the book, both of which are concerned with Scriptural interpretation - one of them (Chapter 19) shows how the Book of Revelation can be seen as an allegory of living the inner spiritual life, where what comes to an end is our worldliness, not the world, and where Jesus returns in our hearts rather than in a physical body.
